2010 A-level H2 Mathematics (9740) Paper 1 Question 3 Suggested Solutions

(i)
$U_n = S_n - S_{n-1}$

$= n(2n+c) - (n-1)[2(n-1)+c]$

$= 4n-2+c$

(ii)
$U_{n-1} = 4(n+1)-2+c$

$U_{n+1} = U_n + 4$
